Painless Root Canal Treatment

Painless Root Canal Treatment

The problem with delaying treatment is that an infected tooth will never heal on its own, and this can lead to some very serious problems. As the infection spreads down the tooth and into your jawbone, the pain may become excruciating. It could even put you in the hospital and threaten your life.

An extraction is only a short-term solution. While it does remove the source of infection, it may set off a chain reaction of shifting teeth and other dental problems. Changes in your bite can lead to cavities, periodontal disease, and possibly even more tooth loss.

When the pulp of the tooth has been infected, the only way to save your tooth and keep it in your mouth is to remove the infection with root canal treatment.

At Maximus Specialist Dental Center, Root canal treatment is done by the Chief Endodontist, Dr Nidhi Gupta, who can save a tooth that is badly decayed or infected. And the tooth stays for life !!

While majority of dentists are still relying on dental Xrays for root canal treatment purposes, Dr Nidhi Gupta uses Surgical Operating Microscope for performing hi precision and painless root canal treatment.

A microscope helps the doctor see within the tooth and root all the way till the apex  (bottom of the root tip) and this helps in totally precise root canal treatment.

She also uses Dental lasers for treating the root canal infection if the case requires.

Dr Nidhi has also cleared US National Dental Boards exam and has always kept herself updated in her specialty.

Signs and Symptoms

If you have an infection of the pulp, you may not feel any pain at first. But if it is not treated, the infection will cause pain and swelling. In some cases, an abscess will form. Your tooth might need a root canal if:

  • It hurts when you bite down on it, touch it or push on it
  • It is sensitive to heat
  • It is sensitive to cold for more than a couple of seconds
  • There is swelling near the tooth
  • It is discolored (whether it hurts or not)
  • It is broken
  • It has long term decay leading to chronic irritation of dental nerves.

Length of Treatment

Root canal treatment can be done in one or multiple sessions depending on the situation. An uncomplicated root canal treatment often can be completed in one session. Some teeth may be more difficult to treat because of where they are in the mouth. Some teeth have more roots than other teeth. Treating a tooth with many roots takes longer. Some teeth have curved root canals that are difficult to find. If you have an infection, you will visit the dentist several times so that he or she can make sure that the infection is gone.

Once the root canal treatment is finished, a crown is needed to prevent the tooth from breaking in the future.

Express Root Canal Treatment

Dr Nidhi Gupta, is an experienced endodontist, who is an expert in Express root canal treatment. She utilises the latest digital tools like apex locators (Propex II) and rotary instruments like X-smart (Protaper) for performing root canal treatment. Her endeavour is to deliver express root canal treatment (single visit) in as many cases as possible. She understands that prolonging RCT, only causes more pain and frustration in patients.

Painless Root Canal Treatment

Dr Nidhi Gupta takes utmost care that you will not have any pain during a root canal procedure. Before giving local anaesthesia injection she will numb the area of injection with gels and sprays, so that you will not know the numbing shots even. She understands that most of the patients fear the numbing shots more than the root canal treatment itself. Her injection system is most advanced and it is virtually painless.

Advantage of root canal treatment

The procedure is not for cosmetics, but rather your health. The infected tooth will only get worse with time if left untreated. The root canal procedure is successful over 92 percent of the time. The biggest advantage is that the tooth will not need to be extracted in the future.

Repeat root canal treatment (Re-RCT)

Dr Nidhi Gupta, is her vast clinical experience has encountered many cases of poorly or incompletely done root canal treatment which have been done previously elsewhere. In these cases the infection in the bone persists and a repeat root canal treatment may cure the problem. Dr Nidhi uses advanced digital instruments to do repeat root canal treatment and tries to avoid root apex surgery if possible.
